Susi and her two sons, Danish (10) and Husain (14), embarked on their first-ever getaway from July 6th to 13th at Phillip Island, an experience that provided a much-needed respite after a challenging year.
The family had been grappling with immense grief following the passing of their husband and father earlier in the year due to cancer.
With no immediate family in Australia, Susi faced not only the emotional toll of the loss but also the day-to-day struggles of raising two children in an unfamiliar country.
This trip was more than just a vacation; it was a lifeline for the small family.
Susi described the experience to the Foundation with a sense of joy and gratitude.
“We spent time with the kids. Swimming three times every day, tennis, playing pool. A Maze N’Things—they loved that so much. We used to go for walks at sunrise and sunset. Enjoyed fish and chips with the other family. I feel relaxed, fresh, and my weight is going up. Thank you so much!”
For Susi, this getaway was a chance to reconnect with her children in a meaningful way, to heal and to find some light amid the darkness.
The simple moments – watching the sunrise, playing games and sharing meals – became a source of comfort and renewal for the family.
It wasn’t just a holiday, it was a reminder of the beauty and healing that comes from spending time together, away from the weight of everyday burdens.
